Pros

Company moves fast and you can be very productive. Minimal bureaucracy. Generally good at attempting to disseminate vision from top-down. Strong technical contributors and great peers. Most policies and practices are employee-friendly (in that there's little impediments to getting stuff done). Company does get rid of low-performers regularly.

Cons

As with many rapidly growing organizations, there's some chaos and politically-biased positioning during the changes. Some managers are focused too tactically on product today, not strengthening the team and products for future. If you need to work at a place where things don't change much or where you can know you'll be employed for years--this is not the place for you. Work load can be heavy at times (but the work itself is interesting and fun).

Pros

Little to no micromanagement. Control and ownership of software components you are responsible for. Exceptional compensation. Incredible vacation policy.

Cons

Not for everyone - developers who like working independently and without much guidance will thrive here. Developers who are used to being given specific assignments and lots of structure might crash and burn (and get fired). Extremely stressful working situations at times as you will be responsible for a lot and might not have backup, and potential for very long hours. If you don't have the courage to ask for your vacations you might not get any (no formal vacation policy).

Pros

Inexpensive health insurance Unique work environment

Cons

Where do I start.... I am a highly educated, sharp, always employed individual and I found it very challenging to work for Netflix long-term. I've been employed in restaurant management, accounting and retail (just to name a few) and this company was by far, the worst place I've ever worked. At my youngest, I was a Merry Maid and I even found that much more enjoyable then slaving away to constant surveys, unintelligent callers and unrealistic expectations. Forget about taking vacation- embrace ocassional, mandatory over-time. Expect callers to personally threaten you and your family. Schedules constantly change to odd hours- no matter what your "ranking" in the center is. Little or no promotion within. I gladly chose to discontinue my employment with Netflix voluntarily and my quality of life has greatly improved.
