Pros

Good work life balance if you have the right Manager - Good annual leave entitlement - Good pension

Cons

Lack of leadership - Very hierarchical - Constant uncertainty - Lack of communication - Big inconsistencies across departments so it is down to luck of the draw

Pros

The organisation was supportive of staff development and strong people focus. Salaries are good as are working conditions and benefits.

Cons

Sometimes inefficient and limited communications from top to bottom. Due to the scale of operations, age of route infrastructure and deliverables demanded targets were sometimes unrealistic.

Pros

Good opportunities for technical roles, a clear passion for 'the railway' in operational roles, reasonable pay and benefits.

Cons

Overly hierarchical, slow to change with a lack of innovation, management capability patchy, performance management very dated.
