Progressive and Forward Thinking Company full of Millennials
Pros
1. I really enjoy working at my job. Almost everyone on my team is from the same generation but we are pretty ethnically and gender diverse. So A+ 2. I work fully remote but we do have an office in the City that I live so I could go in if I wanted to. 3. I think all teams are different but our team is pretty cool we come from fairly diverse backgrounds and started at different times. I have people on my team that have been with the company almost 20 years. So there is a deep well of knowledge about the company and its clients. 4. We work on a support team so somedays are busier than others. You have to be good at solving problems and willing to follow an issue through to the resolution. Being organized and have good follow up is essential on this team. 5. Because we do support we work with a lot of different teams and people in the company. So I can say I've met quite a few people over the last year. Everyone has been easy to work with and helpful. The engineering/ devops teams are great to work with and answers my questions even when they are outside their pay grade. 6. My typical day involves reporting, migrating legacy products and troubleshooting. If you notice my typical day does not include a ton of meetings. Yay. I actually get my work done during the day. 7. Work life balance is good on our team. I don't have a micro manager you get your work done respond to your page outs and on calls and everyone is happy.
Cons
1. The department I'm in doesn't like to spend money or doesn't have a big budget I can't figure it out. I'm used to more social and team building that is sponsored by the company. In previous jobs lunches or happy hours were fairly normal. I see other teams doing these things and often go to them, so I think its just our team not all teams. 2. They keep changing the software we are allowed to use. In the one year I've been there, we've been told 3 programs that we use on a daily basis will no longer be available. I'm not sure who makes these decisions but I guess they should ask people before making these decisions.
