Pros

I have thought for several minutes but still can't come up with any pros of working here. Stay away, please!

Cons

THE LEADERSHIP OF THE COMPANY IS TERRIBLE. Some very incompetent people with arrogant attitude are in charge, They don't care to be transparent with the employees and tell them the truth. Instead, they play evil games and make the work ambiance hostile. The workload is very stressful and high most of the time. It translates to no personal time. Also, expectations change constantly and can be insane at time. BEWARE!

Pros

The ability to make good money.

Cons

The company made a switch recently, forcing the 1099 contractors to take a 60% buyout of their backlog and turn into W2 employees. The "culture" has definitely changed.

Thank you for your review. It is our understanding that you are unsatisfied with the compensation system for Sales Associates. New Home Star’s number one priority is to provide excellent careers for our employees. Over the years we have always aimed at moving closer to this priority. We are excited to announce that all our existing and future employees will be classified as Employees and not Independent Contractors. We believe this change allows us to better support our Sales Agents while continuing to achieve our number one company goal of providing excellent careers for our people. The switch to employee status offered benefits and a guaranteed salary, versus just commission-based pay. As an option, there was an offer to receive all backlog compensation for future closings in a single payment, even though many of the sales had a 12-month closing time. This was not a requirement during the switch and all agents could have retained the original terms for their sales.

Pros

New Home Star's vision is to build the best new home sales company in the world. This shows in the culture, values, work ethic, and caliber of everyone working with New Home Star. If you're looking for a rewarding career where you'll get out what you put in, then you're in the right place. New Home Star rewards those who are willing to think critically about themselves and their work. Lifelong learning is crucial to be successful at New Home Star. Management and the corporate team really care and will do everything to support you in your success if you're willing to put in the work.

Cons

New Home Star is a company with a rigorous work ethic and believes strongly in helping those around you. The times I've seen sales associates fail is when their motivations are self-serving and they don't value their team's success over their own. If you are highly competitive to the point of not playing well with others, this isn't the company for you. I would also add that New Home Star expects and rewards hard work in an industry that can have unpredictable hours and expectations. If you're looking to work regular hours all the time and aren't flexible in working on your off days or working late or early when needed, this isn't the industry for you.
