Pros
New Home Star is such a fantastic and unique place to work that has core values that truly drive the business. I've worked for organizations where you say one thing, but then what you actually do is different, and it couldn't be further from the truth when it comes to New Home Star. The #1 core value is to "provide excellent careers for our people", and recently we've needed to make an adjustment to our salespeople's compensation that had some feeling like that core value wasn't being upheld, but ultimately this change was in the best interest for the absolute vast majority of our sales agents and was why we made the change. I see some new reviews talking about things with this compensation change that I can tell you with 100% confidence is them making assumptions or not having all of the information because the heart and intent behind this shift, was to offer more stability and more resources to our salespeople as a whole and TO stand behind that #1 core value. It may not fit for all, and it may have missed the mark somewhat for some, but I do believe that the intent was there for it to be for the best for the lions share of the agents working for New Home Star. I know much of what I'm saying sounds like I've "drank the kool-aid", but I've worked for numerous organizations that I've seen act very differently and the polar opposite, and in all reality, how NHS legally handled this transition could've been FAR worse for the agents that were making the shift if it was just all about cutting commissions or if it was being done for the company versus for its people. I think people who have left these negative reviews have just looked at everything from a loss mindset, or at what they're "losing", instead of looking at what there is still there and why this change was being made, and how it could actually and likely would be much better off for them in the long run.
Cons
If there's a con that I can think of (and I'm not even sure how much of one this is) it'd revolve around NHS being an organization that really strives not to "tell anyone what to do". Would rather incentivize and inspire to get people to do things. While this is great, I think at times it can be taken a little too far and we'd all be better served just being told what to do or what is expected so that everyone has more clarity. Somewhat similarly, there have been times where you feel that there's not alignment within some of the Senior leaders that some then seem to kind of try and do things one way, when others are wanting or trying to do it another or you've heard differently from other leaders.
