Pros

Flexible hours, no micromanagement

Cons

Nobody gets anything done, the labs run on outdated equipment. Lots of employees take safety rules as a suggestion more than a requirement.

Pros

They celebrate people's birthday (only certain people). Depending on who is in charge of your schedule, you may have some flexibility in regards to your classes and extracurricular. You have time to Netflix. You have time to study as long as you complete your assigned tasks.

Cons

Management does not promote you because of your great work ethic and passionate contributions. No, they promote you because either you have been kissing up to them or you have worked in a lower ranking sub-department for a long time and it's time to select you as "good job for sticking it out". They also like underdogs even if the underdog lack common sense or intelligence overall. They do not like honest constructive feedback. They prefer to hear positive feedback. You get excluded if you're not part of the clique. Sends too much announcements (most are repeats) and spams your inbox. Management coddles lab associates like they don't have a mind of their own; so no one has great customer service skills or do beyond expectations. There is no team, and individuals will only work when told to do something. Make sure you're an engineering or computer science major or they won't hire you. Doesn't matter what your schedule of availability is. You won't get a call back or even an interviewing opportunity.
