Could have been great...

Pros

The friendships and the CEO

Cons

The new additions within upper management has really ruined what was and could have been an amazing company. No support. It's clear that certain c-level executives have no care about anyone lower than them. They only acknowledge people above them and take credit for the teams that actually does all of the work. There's no communication which is awful when decisions are made and you can't do anything but watch things fall apart.

Pros

Great benefits and decent pay

Cons

I came on during the cultural decline in mid-2019. This place was once a great place to work but has since become more and more toxic. Work/life balance has been on the decline as well. A lot of amazing folks are leaving or have left within the past year, and I expect that trend to continue. I was lucky to have a great manager and team for a bit, but even when I was there I found very few teams I'd actually want to be on as a female engineer.

It's ok

Pros

Good pay; neat tech; some of the smartest, friendliest people I've ever worked with; a management team that is clearly trying despite trip ups.

Cons

New Relic has a lot going for it but I find that's highly dependent on your team and manager. Upward career movement can be glacial if you end up on the wrong team. The tone of the company has been changing lately. One of our core values is "bold" but the company has made it clear that being too bold is a fireable offense. We recently launched a redesigned product which involved months of slogging through long hours and deadlines. We're now on a slightly-less-hectic continuation of that death march, but the trend continues: "There's never enough time to slow down and do things right."
