Pros

Newegg has a good reputation outside of the workforce. Working for the second largest e-commerce only company (right under Amazon) is pretty nice on your resume.

Cons

The cons supersede the plusses. Upper management is atrocious. Most have little to care for the people below them. Most simply care about looking good and getting promoted to reach another notch on their belt buckle. Salary is far below average. I have been working for Newegg for over its lifespan (began in 2001) and I have received 2 increases. The sad part is that the increase does not take into consideration the cost of living (which is typically 3%). I was in a conference room once and noticed on the white board that there was a list of all the different levels of upper management employment salary ranges, which started at the director level. They all made over 100K or more a year while people below make a crumble in comparison. Throughout my tenure, I have seen several people come and go. In particularly, our HR department has gone so south. So many people quit, were let go, or “force” to leave. Force refers to encouraging employees to leave because it is “best” decision they can make – in other words, they are no longer welcomed any more.

Pros

The people in the regular jobs are great. They work hard. They want to be success. The company has good recognition. It is well known in the channel. It is pride to work for Newegg because of how we treat our customers. It is the 2nd biggest ecommerce company and that says its doing something right. Chairman is very nice and loyal to his people. We rule the market in hard drives, memory, gaming, and lots of other categories.

Cons

Management is weak. There is no strategic plan. No direction from management. It's February and we don't know what the years goals are. Management leads by secrecy and putting people down. CEO doesn't imnspire us to do better. New CFO doesn't understand ecommerce. Hes like the old CEO who just knows how to cut spending. CIO can do no wrong. IT never held responsible for problems. There is no motivation or encouragement. The best encouragement to do better came from one of our board members but I don't see him since January. People like working for him because he respects you and treats you right and motivate you. Last year he wrote a many year strategy that was great but nobody did anything with it. HR is a joke. There is too many open positions. There are no job training opportunities and room for advancement and promotion. They started a mentor program and I never see my manager. But others have good mentors. Pay is not competitive. I get job offers paying 10-25% more. Bonus plan changes a lot. I have no idea what bonus I qualify for it is to complex. There is too much importance placed on being on time and not enough on how well you get your job done. People who are favorites and mess up get promoted, not reprimanded. Some PMs play games to get bonus when they could be making Newegg more money. There is no ways to express ideas. If you're Chinese you get better attention and respect than if you're American. I'm Chinese and I see it all the time. It makes me sad because we can do so much more if Chairman would hire the right people.
