Bad management, limited promotion opportunities

Pros

There's still people there who love tinkering, acquiring and selling computer hardware. The kind of people that'll let you know exactly why some obscure brand performs better in deep technical terms. Who will deck out everything on their computers with RGB LED lights and be proud of it.

Cons

Management at all levels is short sighted, incompetent, disrespectful and inefficient. Be ready to do 4x the work because objectives and expectations change sometimes on a daily basis for no other reason than to try to look good and save face. Things constantly breaking down or going extremely wrong because of bad planning and execution, only being saved in the last minute by the normal day in day out workers there and pure luck. This causes people to burn out really quick and extremely high turnover. Lower pay compared to similar companies. Almost zero diversity in management Sometimes hostile towards LGBTQ people.

Great workplace plagued by poor management

Pros

Coworkers: I've probably met some of the best and nicest people at Newegg. You will probably go to hell and back with your coworkers. At the end of the day, you'll probably become friends. Benefits (kind of): The health benefits arent too bad.

Cons

Management: Anything above your immediate supervisor will probably bring unreasonable demands, proposals, and constant changes that will not only disrupt the workflow, but create a mess that you will have to fix and get blamed for. You might be cleaning up after management half the time. Extremely low wages: Most jobs beat the wages. Predatory policies: Things are looped in a way where it does not benefit you. Still legal but morally wrong. No advancement: You probably wont get a raise or a sizable one. You probably wont get promoted. It's not based off merit or senority, it's closer to whomever management likes. Company comes first: Management cares about themselves first. If you have an inconvenience in life that they think is too long, expect to be fired.

Only for the Desperate

Pros

* Typical corporate benefits * Food trucks for holidays or big events * Free coffee * Laptop with two desk monitor setup * WFH capability * Interviewing and hiring was quick and easy * Support team in China were hardworking, helpful, and courteous * Employee discount and raffle opportunities to purchase hard-to-obtain tech * Occasional team lunches * Lots of great food nearby in Rowland Heights

Cons

* Leadership does not want you to WFH, saying "they should want to come in". Newsflash: We're still in a pandemic and no one wants to come into a dusty office to catch covid and bring it home to their families. * CTO was way too involved in some department issues * Training was minimal, and you don't learn about resources available until much later * Leadership would rather have in-house software made to save costs, which often leads to software that isn't as effective. * Lots of turnover, either from people leaving or getting fired * Many departments were overworked, even the support team in China
