Your direct leader has to be annoyingly loud for anyone to care about what your team is accomplishing. Credit was not given where due. I was told by 3 of my leaders that I was up for a promotion and raise for over a year. I filled in for my direct leader and was never properly compensated. I was given more responsibilities even after I expressed that I was not being properly compensated for the work I was already doing. In the end I was laid off 12 days into maternity leave with no severance via an email that was generated by AI and not a real human being.
