No One Stays Long

Pros

Working here is an opportunity to step into a good job at another company. As an engineer you are billed out to clients. It will not take long before clients start approaching you as a talented engineer to hire you directly. Nexustek will attempt to tell them it is not allowed, but in fact it is illegal in most states they operate in to do this. Non Competes and No Hires are illegal in most states with heavy tech industries. What this means is engineers are constantly being hired by clients. Many become IT directors and sometimes even take over managing the relationship with the MSP. Many many engineers have been hired by clients. As a result no one stays long.

Cons

The reason no one stays long is due to the level of un organization and chaos that is Nexustek. Both engineers and clients have no problem keeping Nexustek around until they cause more chaos then it is worth. This does not take long when the client gets over billed or incorrectly billed. Incorrect product gets delivered or never get ordered. Systems go ignored until they blow up. A group of engineers once said they spend more time protecting Nexustek from Nexustek and cleaning up problems then taking care of clients. At first you say no thanks to the offers but eventually the mistakes get repetitive and you have to protect your own professional reputation from the constant mistakes. Soon you become another on a very long list of people that get hired directly by the client.

Thank you for your feedback, and I'm sorry you've formed a negative opinion of NexusTek. While I understand your perspective, we are in the process of transforming the business and I hope you'll try to remain open-minded and optimistic about change. As in most businesses, things don't go sideways overnight, and they don't improve overnight. Patience is the key. I've spent a good percentage of my first 90 days meeting 1-1 with front line employees to do just that - to find out what is happening. I'll be in Phoenix the week of January 10th if you'd like to meet personally if we haven't met already. We are committed to making NexusTek a great place to work, and improving the business as several other employees have already acknowledged is happening.

Company in transition but heading the right way

Pros

Smart, caring, hard working people focused on doing the right things for customers. Small to medium business target customer profile is a fast growing segment of the population. National presence. Broad customer base that allows engineers to work on lots of different technologies with lots of different customers. Great benefits.

Cons

Still need to fully integrate all of the businesses that were acquired over the last 18 months. There has been some employee and customer churn as a result, but that is expected the year after major acquisitions. Some lingering grumbling due to the sins of the past, but based on what I've seen, we are refocused and heading in the right direction.

Failure to Transform

Business Outlook

Pros

If you are desperate for a job, come work here. Recently the CEO was fired. This confirmed what we all knew but were forbidden to talk about. Mounting client losses caused by mis-management meant the organization was not growing in a similar way to competitors in the industry. A new CEO signals a possible turn around - but we have heard/seen this story before. Every few years after every new merger management uses the opportunity to wipe the slate clean of past failures and pretend like this is a new beginning. It remains to be seen if the new CEO will clean house and transform the organization into a modern and current MSP that can grow.

Cons

This organization has failed to keep clients and grow into larger ones. This can be attributed to one thing alone. Horrible Operational Managers and Executive Leadership. Many warned them the shift to Public Cloud was coming and that the organization needed to retooled. Engineers and Managers who advocated for it and became experts in AWS, Azure and Google Cloud - gave up and left - quickly snatched up by large organizations. Today NT is not even speaking the same language of many of these larger clients. Managers don't know Public Cloud. To this day they have not put it in the Job Descriptions for new Engineers. Even if they did how are they supposed to identify this talent if they don't have the tech knowledge themselves to identify who has the skill set? Successful tech organizations are managed by Engineers with current skills sets. Current management is "fat and happy" with the status quo. Without more changes at the top, transformation will never come. In less then two years it will be replaying the same soundtrack of yet another new CEO explaining how this time things are going to be different.

I appreciate your feedback, and while I understand your perspective, I disagree - transformation is already coming. I understand you've seen/heard this before from previous leadership, and I'm sorry you left NexusTek before seeing the transformation in action. We are committed to making NexusTek a great place to work.
