Pros

It doesn't matter how much you know about NICE before you get here, nothing beats the view from the inside! The breadth and depth of the software offerings aren't the only surprises – in fact, every day has brought something new and different to the mix. From access to marketing agency resources to a company-wide competition for tickets to the Eras Tour; from participating in Pink Day to signing up for Kids' Day in the office, there's something for everyone. And the work. Let’s not forget the work! There is always work to be done, but it isn't predictable – and there's fun in that, too. There are few places – and few roles – where you can demonstrate flexibility and agility in your role by taking on an expanded role within your first few weeks. The key for me has been building my network. There are so many smart people here – people who can help you figure out how to navigate the organization, which distribution lists to get added to, who you need to meet, and sometimes, who can just decode the acronyms. Find your NICErs! It is worth noting that the Atlanta office team has worked really hard to create a warm, hospitable environment as they welcome everyone back into the office under the NICE Flex RTO model – and it is working! From recognizing holidays to celebrating random Tuesdays? They mark it all and they do it with style... and balloons. Lots of balloons! Fundamentally, NICE is a multi-billion-dollar company with a leadership team that is working hard to meet the needs of its employees – and its customer base. There will always be tradeoffs. They do more for their employees on a day-to-day basis than many companies and that counts for a lot. I've honestly never seen a company maintain this level of post-M+A employee retention, year-over-year. Full disclosure: I'd wanted to work here, and for this CEO, for a long time. And I'd do it again, regardless.

Cons

The flip side? The cons are about what you would expect from a multi-billion-dollar organization. There’s never enough of anything, for anyone, when you want it (or when you want to see it): promotion cycles don’t happen fast enough, career paths aren’t clear/consistent enough (even less in some departments than others). NICE has a reputation in the industry for that, as well as for “taking a conservative approach” to salaries and titles – and I can vouch for both. The benefits... well, they aren't great. But I'm so grateful to have Aetna! There are never enough hours in the day. Silos are a way of life. Assigned days in the office feel punitive after years of working from home, especially when they apply to some team members, but not all. The potential for a have/have not mentality is a very real thing, on a lot of levels. And a recent HR pitch to join us here? “Come to NICE and stay and grind!” But most of that could be said across most of tech. Not the right answer, but the truth.
