Stay Away

Pros

Benefits are about the only positive about NiSource. Extremely competitive health insurance and 401K match. 4 weeks of time off plus plenty of sick time

Cons

Management is worthless. They lied about the role in order to get people to fill their continually open positions and then can't understand why people don't want to stay in the role. The role was exactly what I told them I was not interested in, and was assured that this role was completely different. There is no on-boarding or training. You get thrown in and they hope you know enough to survive. There is zero workload management. One person can average 20 hours of work a week while others have 50. You can ask to have it adjusted but that wont do any good. Any changes suggested to management go in one ear and out the other. Don't expect to be in a collaborative environment. It is all head down, while management creates more and more pointless work. Also, be prepared to use completely outdated technology that doesn't work.

People feel trapped and miserable

Pros

Work-life balance. Lot of nice people. Decent benefits. Bonuses are good some years.

Cons

Person after person starts out eager and excited and gets that beat out of them the first year. People feel trapped and miserable. They are terrified to make the smallest decision. Micromanagement. Bullying under guise of performance standards. No career advancement. The general meanness that results from all the above.

Pros

-Employee Engagement -Family Atmosphere -Career Development

Cons

-Too much bureaucracy -Pay doesn't increase proportionally with experience, in order to get a raise you have to leave -to much focus on making all the states the same when they operate in completely different environments -At the end of the day you are just a number to the company and would rather replace you with a cheaper less experienced person, then pay an employee with 5 years of experience appropriately
