Pros

Noble has allowed me to build many different skill sets. Firstly, there is a large focus on collaboration, and I have been pushed to observe, reflect and engage with peers across the science department (where I work) as well as in other departments. The commitment to collaboration and a growth mindset has kept me at Noble for a longer time than I anticipated going in. Secondly, there are a lot of great ways to develop leadership skills in the Network, from serving as a leader on a department team to working on the network's Hedgehog team. Finally, the people that I work with are the HARDEST working individuals that I know. The kids are fantastic and have grown up in the network BELIEVING they must work hard to get to a great college- makes teaching a wonderful activity to be involved in. This is an exhausting but satisfying job, and I end each dat knowing that I contributed positively - only a con if you are in it for a reason other than helping the kids!

Cons

I do believe that there are great resources, but classes are sometimes larger than I would desire and lab space can be hard to come by.

Pros

Good and relevant professional development.

Cons

No work life balance. Judgmental staff- if you don't stay until 6pm, you don't care about your kids. Placement outside of appropriate content area- individuals with math/science background doing college counseling with no experience. Entitled mentality. Lots of buzzwords but no actual guidance or instruction on how to implement strategies.

Pros

The best reason to work at a Noble school are the kids. They're amazing and gritty. The second best reason to work for Noble are my colleagues. I am surrounded by intelligent and hardworking people. No slackers in this school.

Cons

Time commitment. I feel like I could always being doing more and my job is never finished.
