Pros

Great work/life balance. Incredibly kind people. Fashion! (If you're into that.) Occasional inspiration trips to conferences. Good processes. One of the last large editorial teams in the city, complete with a proofreading team and dedicated editors—which is unheard of in These Modern Times. Decent health benefits, 4% 401k match, and the company is generally working hard to Not Be Evil. Free bus pass. This is a place where grown-ass people with families go to do a reasonably pleasant job in a reasonably paced environment, with an eye for the long haul. It's unusual for people in the creative department to work insane hours, nobody is expected to work on vacation or to answer emails at 11pm.

Cons

Because everyone tends to stay here forever, there are limited opportunities for career advancement. There aren't the madcap tech-company perks of endless free food and private concerts by Lorde and bajillions in stock options. Also, things move pretty slowly here. If you're ambitious like a bottle rocket and want everything to happen fast, this is not the place for you. Promotions happen slowly. Salaries are not sky high. No one will come to pick up your laundry for free. Cost-of-living raises are certainly not keeping pace with the actual cost of living in Seattle.

Pros

Nordstrom is committed to the future of the company and is heavily investing in how to keep being successful in a rapidly changing retail landscape.

Cons

The culture is strange. There is a lack of transparency Quite a few of the managers aren’t qualified for their roles. A new initiative to produce faster goods is clumsy and half-baked. No one really seems to know what they are doing or if it will work
