Horrible corporate culture.

Pros

Thoughtful mentors and champions exist, but unfortunately they are far and few between. Discount is good. It is a challenging time with poor morale.

Cons

Most leaders are bullies and only care about climbing the corporate ladder. For a company focused on making people feel good, leadership does not make this a priority for employees. Vision and consistency of work is non existent.

Pros

Nordstrom IT has a great culture, truly taking care of its customers and employees. The empathy for the customers and employees with the combination of the passion for technology drove great innovations for the past several years.

Cons

When sales became weaker, Nordstrom has gone through re-orgs and brought new leadership that does not seem to care about the existing culture that made Nordstrom great. Trust has been violated, and people don't feel the safety and the driving force behind innovations anymore. With the current negative force, there are not a lot of positive things that can retain current employees or attract new talents.

Pros

Used to be a really good place to work. It was not your typical retail IT.

Cons

The last year has seen drastic change. Mostly new management. Lots of talk about transparency, but it's the opposite. The "upside down pyramid" is now right side up. I have zero trust in the new leadership and I'm not alone.
