Pros

You learn how to get results, build personal sales. Client relations and Customer service are taught and well engrained. Usually a lot of cool people to work with and the custoners can be fun. Looks great on resume and opens doors for other jobs.

Cons

Not much opportunity for growth. Not a good work/life balance. Store Managers are usually not qualified and are just cheerleaders.

Pros

The pay was very good compared to other department stores. I probably made between $15 and $20/hr for the time I worked there.

Cons

Managment was very incompetent. It was a dog eat dog environment (because it was commission sales). And managment really didn't congratulate you on what you did right but they were sure to complain to you about what you are doing wrong.

Pros

Nordstrom offers competitive pay, promotes from within, and provides an excellent benefits package to their full-time employees. It provides an excellent sales environment.

Cons

There is little upward mobility into positions of upper management at the Nordstrom Anchorage store unless you are willing to move (temporarily or permanently) to another Nordstrom location to gain more experience.
