Pros

Employee discount is all I can come up with

Cons

Terrible benefit structure. No health insurance for close to six months, and then you lose it if you go under 129 hours in a month. No paid time off for close to ten months, and you are very limited in taking time off before then. Beyond that, my main beef with Nordstrom is that I feel employees are valued solely for the numbers they bring in. I do not feel as though we are treated as human beings with feelings, needs, and a life outside of work. It is all about the SPH and meeting goals, and if you cannot do that, your manager will not support you. This is a vicious cycle of failure for most.

Pros

The pay is really good and you have the ability to make a lot if you are good at selling. They don't put too much pressure on you to sell and focus more on customer service. The other workers and the customers are fun to work with.

Cons

You have to wait around for a promotion and keep asking if you want one. Sometimes promotions go to those who ask for it the most, not those who have the skills and abilities of a good manager.

Pros

Compensation higher than most retailers; PTO & Paid Holidays to Part-Time personnel given (very rare); opportunity to transfer to other stores/departments

Cons

- tells employee's that they can't leave after scheduled shift until they open credit card accounts - tells employee's they can't take lunch until they acquire XX amount of mailing list sign ups - tells employee's they can't schedule a PTO day unless they agree to work another day in the week (essentially trade a day; rather than actually having time off - tells employee's they can't have more than 1 day off in a week if requesting PTO - fails to schedule hours for an employee that needs hours and gives to others that don't want the added hours - requires participation for store/department meetings on scheduled days off - requires discussion of company business while "off the clock" - lack of safety with respect to employees (shredded & exposure wires, lack of documentation of injuries and failure to correct potential hazards when brought to attention of mgmt & bldg facilities)
