Comments below apply to the corporate headquarters: -Smart, down-to-earth people across all levels of the organization -Senior management (directors, VPs, and c-level executives) listen to every level of the organization -Strong collaborative culture -If you are a top performer, you will have the freedom to pick your own path, access to top talent, and choose your own projects - very entrepreneurial in that sense -Competition among employees is pretty minimal -Lots of community service work, lots of involvement in the community

Cons

Comments below apply to the corporate headquarters: -Sometimes unclear in professional development path -Training isn't handed to you, but if you push for it they are willing to spend the money -Compensation was a complaint by many of my colleagues

Pros

The people are great and very energetic. The company encourages you to stay, work hard and grow with them. Very supportive.

Cons

The environment can be cut throat and competitive. Returns get deducted from your salary and it is roughly 10%. The months of January, February, and August are slow

Pros

Nordstrom invests time to give their associates the tools needed to successfully sell the right product to their customers. The customer service is above any other retail company and the internal service to their employees is just as fantastic!

Cons

Because there is such an emphasis to sell and make commission, there are times when taking time off seems to not be encouraged by management. I was required to work all holidays if scheduled and there wasn't a lot of flexibility to switch shifts with others.
