Pros

if you have great sales you can write your own ticket to the top. You are as good as your results. Relationships are important so the better connected you are the better your chances to grow. the sqeaky wheel gets the oil.

Cons

you must deliver results or you will never be in the good graces of the powers that be. Nepitsim is alive and well here. There is always room for someones sister or brother qualified or not. There is no training for the management on how to develope or coach their teams so you are on your own until there is a problem and it will come as a surprise always ask where you stand or it could effect your future as the exectutives are talking about it all the time just not to you to correct the behavior, the execs. do not have the tools to start the conversation.

Pros

i enjoyed the poeple I worked with

Cons

returns, the lack of flexibility in hours, the lack of caring for their employees, you can never do anything right there, no balance with work and home, arrogant, pretentious, hypocritical...all rah rah--you cannot be yourself there, you need always to be looking over your shoulder, cut throat, poor management skills, unrealistic expectations....the worst place I have ever worked

Pros

The best reason to work at Nordstrom is what you will learn and take with you anywhere you go. At Nordstrom you learn how to interact with customers at a level that is beyond retail service. You learn how to be a good leader and manage your own business within the company. You learn respect, confidence, and problem solving. It really is all together a great place to be where you are treated with respect and are given the opportunity to succeed.

Cons

Working the day after Thanksgiving and some of the Sale days makes it hard to travel around the holidays to be with family. ...And if you are a manager around those times...forget about it.. you arent going anywhere
