Pros

Casual dress code. Occasional department lunches. Great 401k. The department I was in had a mostly great culture and, until my last few months, had virtually no micromanagement. The pace was usually relaxed, and the people in the department were all friendly. The department head also tried to be involved with everyone in order to make communication easier and more transparent.

Cons

Company wildly underpays operations employees (risk, compliance, and underwriting) for the work being done by industry standard. Company offers mediocre to bad benefits (aside from the 401k) Company has a cult-like reverence for the "Speed of Trust" values it preaches, despite not actually following many of those values as a company itself. It's just irritating, meaningless, feel-good Kool-Aid for the employees to choke down. Company offered virtually no raises for anyone in the department in the two years I was there beyond a paltry 1-3% increase based on a problematic merit system. Company moved at a snail's pace for internal shifts in finances and job requisitions. Department head was often too busy to actually hear a lot of feedback about the department. (I love her, but she needs an assistant to help keep things in order) New manager hired in in the months prior to my departure had several micro-managerial policies he tried to implement, and most policies he tried to implement were poorly thought-out and led to more problems than they were designed to solve. Overall: company did not appreciate the talents of its workers enough to recommend anyone work there on a long-term basis. Promotions were sparse to non-existent. All three managers in my department were let go during the two years I was there.

Your feedback regarding your employment experience at NAB is appreciated. During your time with the company, you were witness to rapid growth and with growth comes change along with the need to introduce what are sometimes looked at as more rigid processes or ways of doing business. We understand that change causes frustration and sometimes the original direction may change course due to the needs of the business. Our employees ARE valued and appreciated. We introduced a formal salary structure in 2016 to ensure we are paying fair and equitable wages, implemented a consistent performance review process, conducted employee engagement surveys and held sessions with our employees to listen to their challenges and suggestions. Those are only a few examples of the efforts underway to ensure our employees have the tools and resources to be successful. We are sorry that this wasn’t the right environment for you and wish you the best with your future endeavors.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback on the exciting changes we are making in Customer Care at NAB. We realize that sometimes workload can appear unbalanced. The good news - we’ve added 25% more employees to our team in the past three months to allow for more 1:1 time with leaders, coaching’s, and training. In addition, we’ve added fun events throughout each month that affords more time to connect and grow with the team. We’re glad you agree – we’ll keep it going!

Pros

North American is not unlike other MSP companies - the more you are willing to put in, the more you'll get out of it. Compensation is on par for the industry, the work environment is top notch, and there is a commitment to improving the customer experience. It is an environment where if you have a positive attitude, do your job, and keep an entrepreneurial mind-set - you will excel, and be both finanicial rewarded and offered growth opportunity. It is not a place for slackers or someone who feels entitled to 35 hour work weeks and unlimited time off - but then no company in the Merchant Service Processing space is. Troy is a suburb of Detroit - an area that desperately needs good paying jobs and technological opportunities - NAB provides both.

Cons

NAB has 13 companies under it's umbrella - sometimes the communication between those groups is lacking and not everyone is aware of the capabilities that each division has or can provide.

Thank you for your very insightful review. Your advice related to improving communication from the top-down is something that we are continuing to work on while conveying that communication is a two-way street. We want all of our employees to feel comfortable making suggestions, providing feedback and taking the initiative to contribute towards enhancing their work experience at NAB. As your COO, my door is open 95% of every day and I thoroughly enjoy having team members come to discuss their ideas or just stopping by to say hello. Thank you again for sharing your feedback!
