Pros

good healthcare benefits, PTO but at expense of salary. Known as Walmart with healthcare

Cons

Cut throat management has no humanity. Fraught with nepotism, cronyism and political patronage appointees.

Pros

Some coworkers are genuinely talented and try their best despite the toxic atmosphere. Decent benefits, but that's about where the positives end.

Cons

The work environment is extremely difficult due to disconnected EDS leaders and HR's failure to address ongoing issues or complaints. This has created a toxic atmosphere that drives even the most dedicated and talented workers away. There’s a lack of communication, constant micromanagement, and ever-shifting priorities, all of which contribute to stress and chaos. The new senior leadership, who may have caused problems at Mount Sinai, is bringing the same dysfunction to Northwell. It feels like those at the top of the food chain are either unaware of the issues or unwilling to confront them, leaving employees to bear the brunt of the fallout.

Pros

Good Benefits, 6.5 weeks vacation, 200 a month for insurance for a family of four, good 401 k plan, good location on long island

Cons

I am a former employee. I have a above average education. I had to apply to close to 100 roles to get 2 interviews. I finally got a role in an administrative function performing Business analysis. Benefits are great. Advancement is sub par. Only people in their 600 community drive building get promoted the most. Otherwise, even though employees can apply online, your chances are slim to none you will get anything. Roles are earmarked for internal candidates as soon as they are posted. It is just a formality so they don't get legal action against them. You either need to know someone or have a relative working there to get a new internal role. That's if your manager doesn't sabotage your chances. Also, hr wants you to tell your boss you are applying to roles as opposed to when you are actually being considered. In addition, it is hard to move around because if you get regular increases, it prices you out of other jobs you would want internally. Again, if you know someone, they will restructure the role to say manager in the title, so you can get the job at a higher rate. For that reason, you need to apply to outside companies. Once you announce you found a new job to your manager, then comes damage control. This entails bad mouthing the employee so that other employees don't get the idea to leave as well. They are also good about adding new practices at a quick pace but never add on new staff to support them. This ultimately means dumping more and more work/responsibilities to their existing employees while not recognizing them in new titles or salary increases. They also announced over a year ago that they would create an internal job site just for employees. They still haven't created it and when you ask hr about it, they ignore you. Management is more self absorbed about themselves and who they are married too.
