Pros

It's a job to pay the bills and keep the family fed. You may have the opportunity for limited advancement if you ingratiate yourself with the right people.

Cons

I worked directly for this company for 11 years, and until recently was still closely affiliated with it. Over the years I have seen the company culture change from one of respect and good relations with its employees to one where warehouse employees are considered an expendable resource, nothing more than a necessary cost of doing business. Job security is an illusion, with a higher than normal rate of termination among employees with ten or more years of service. Reasons given for terminations tend to be flimsy, which has led to speculation that there is an ulterior motivation for firing so many higher paid employees. Best advice is to not stay too long. Learn a new skill or two, and use that knowledge as a springboard to employment somewhere else.

Pros

Higher pay and benefits vs local/ other competitors although it does take a few years to get there. Better than most health insurance. Safety is a big focus. Almost all Measurable metrics of profitability, customer service, safety, are in top 5 in the company- you feel like you are on a winning team in ft wayne.

Cons

Majority of jobs are not on 1st shift, you will sacrifice time w your family to be able to provide for them. Management is very tight at year reviews, impossible to get a perfect - even if you completely master a job or task you will not get a perfect score. Even a high score for a yearly review, a yearly raise is only at rate of inflation which really isn't a raise. There is no set metric on how much work is done or divided in Fort Wayne. One person may do double the work
