Pros

- Great co-workers - Great learning experience - Plenty of variety for work experience - Good health plans - Benefits, retirement, etc - Decent work-life balance (*depending on who you work for) - Workout facility - Subsidized lunches

Cons

- Too much focus or process and not progress: a minimally invasive production change requires a significant amount of paperwork and approval (ex: JVM logging change to set logging levels through JMX could require 20 minutes of paperwork, approvals from multiple people, reviews, and more: hours of work generated from a 2 second change) - Claim to be agile, but ITIL processes get in the way - More work, less people - Unclear, unrealistic expectations - Large, nebulous, projects with shifting priorities - Open office concepts - Too many transient bank managers running an IT company like a bank

Pros

Decent benefits; vacation and sick; fairly flexible with family commitments, depending on who you work for; nice fitness facility, cafeteria

Cons

Entire culture changing, and not for better. Loyalty and longevity is no longer valued. New regime creates the feeling that everyone here before them is expendable. They talk about needing to change, but they are only bringing in people from their work pasts and programs and softwares from their past, so while they say we must change, they are only changing geography.

Pros

• Talented employees who genuinely care about their work and are passionate about supporting libraries • Good learning experience

Cons

• Lack of transparency in communication from leadership • Career growth often tied to personal relationships with the executive management team rather than merit or performance • Low morale was neither acknowledged nor addressed by leadership; employees who raised concerns often faced repercussions • Leadership is unreceptive to feedback unless it aligns with their own views • Cronyism in leadership hiring, resulting in unqualified individuals leading teams of experienced contributors • CEO appears more focused on personal brand than the organization, and has publicly ridiculed employee survey feedback in all-staff meetings • Unlike other organizations I’ve worked for, OCLC leadership did not prioritize coaching or motivating employees to grow with the organization • Compensation below industry standards, particularly for technical roles • General lack of trust and respect amongst employees for executive leadership
