Pros

Great people to work with. Solid bendfits programs. Excellent perks for employees like a fitness center and personal trainers provided at no charge. Leaders that actually lead instead of micro managing and badgering their people.

Cons

Salaries are a little lower than normal because of the non-profit nature of the company. Sometimes a little short on holding people accountable.

Pros

Mission. OCLC's mission is to help libraries succeed by providing services that manage costs and promote the visibility and use of library collections and services globally. It's a purpose that is easy to embrace. Staff and management are very well educated. The corporate culture reflects library priorities and business imperatives.

Cons

Indecisiveness. OCLC has a lot of talent, but the company doesn't foster creative thinking or entrepreneurship. Management is VERY top down. All of the core committees are run by executive management. Too many executive managers, each of whom thinks that he/she has the answer for addressing OCLC's challenges and defends their turf fiercely.
