Pros

Can work from home 4pm finish on Fridays

Cons

- Under resourced accounts which results in writers working longer hours and burning out - No realistic conversations with clients setting expectations of timelines. - No training or development provided for new writers - No novel or new work from clients/ clients pulling work - Very cliquey. Can feel very difficult to develop a good working relationship with people - Very hierarchical. Suggestions from junior employees are often dismissed by SMT - Lack of diversity in the workplace - Constant turnover of staff which results in gaps in resourcing

Pros

There are pockets of good culture. There have been times in the last few years where work life balance has been good. The benefits are industry standard but remote working is the norm with reassurance there will be no RTO mandates. There are opportunities for rapid promotion but it is down to luck rather than a clear strategy for development. The latest CEO is focusing on many the right things to improve the company. If he can just get a little investment from his PE overlords it could work out.

Cons

Salaries are very low and there is little incentive to go above and beyond. We are currently in a period of under-resourcing although that won’t last forever it is proving destructive to culture. Leadership employed a policy of austerity for the last year and that has turned out exactly as anyone would predict. The damage will take a while to repair. There isn’t a focus on soft skills or leadership. People get promoted quickly and often above their capabilities if they are efficient. This leads to a culture of bad leadership even at quite senior levels it is hit and miss whether your line manager will help or hinder you. Career progression pathways are not clear for junior team members. Lately development has been deprioritised and people are upset.

Pros

Lovely colleagues though good people get worked out

Cons

Senior leadership team have no clue what they’re doing. Only look after themselves. President is rude, only looks at numbers without context and actively works good people out. No safeguarding for harassment in place.
