Pros

I enjoyed my coworkers for the most part and the job was pretty easy.

Cons

Poor management all around. Most managers just sit in their office on their phones and act like it’s terrible when their employees or a member needs help. Some even sit in their office and cry about their cheating husband every day for about 3 years straight. Some people can get away with murder there and not get in trouble and some people can make one mistake and the whole world comes crashing down. It’s all about who you know and who’s butt you kiss. If you aren’t willing to kiss up to people you won’t go far at ORNL.

Pros

I enjoyed the crew that I worked with on a day-to-day basis.

Cons

Management has no idea what's going on within the business. There is so much employee turnover occurring internally, and yet management doesn't seem to understand the root driver of this issue. You will not be given fair opportunity to interview for positions that might interest you. If HR doesn't see that you're "qualified" on paper, they won't pass your resume on to the hiring manager even if the hiring manager knows you're applying and thinks that you might be good fit for their department or branch.

Pros

The employees are fabulous to work with. It's a group environment where everyone is there to help each other succeed.

Cons

CEO is unapproachable, rigid, and very black or white, there is no gray. He is impersonal, cold and petty. He does not allow eating at your desk, or having personal items, There are procedures for every part of your job, and don't go outside of those procedures, even if it makes sense to. Our management can't do anything as the CEO controls their every move. They used to be able to go to bat for us, now their hands are tied. It has turned into a completely different environment since our current CEO took over.
