Pros

-Non-profit hospital: all of our revenue stays within the hospital and community. With the burden of paying state and local taxes, this frees up capital to be put back into the hospital: i.e. recruitment, facilities, supply, etc. If you've ever worked in a for-profit hospital, you know how it feels to "do more with less." The culture at OU has changed since HCA is no longer a part of it. -Shared governance: nurses and ancillary staff have a stay in policies and procedures when it comes to patient care and safety. -Leadership: I can attest that the leadership in the hospital is some of the BEST that I have had the pleasure of working for. I truly believe that they all share a common goal: they want the best for our patients while not sacrificing morale of their staff. -Ownership and accountability: This is OUr house. Leadership wants everyone to have a vested interested in OU; they encourage employees to take ownership of the organization and with that ownership comes pride. -Tuition reimbursement at 90 days of employment. Need I say more? -Clinical Recognition Program for RNs: if you are certified in any area, or wish to become certified, you get extra money per year AND you don't even have to pay for the certification exam if you don't pass. "No pass, no pay." -MAGNET status: We are in the process of submitting approval for MAGNET status. Look it up! So exciting. -Benefits: Are great and very cheap.

Cons

-Food: The cafeteria is "OK." Would like to see it expand. This is possibly the smallest cafeteria I've seen for a hospital this size. -Parking: You have to park off-campus BUT a shuttle is offered. -Pay: I don't feel that as a staff nurse pay is comparable to some hospitals in the area. I am hoping that this will change as I know this is a deterrent for some people.

Thank you for the glowing review. We are inspired that you recognize the emphasis OU Medicine’s leadership places on providing quality patient care to the community, while encouraging employees to take ownership of the organization’s mission and focus. In addition, we believe our status as a non-profit healthcare network positions us to be the premier healthcare provider in Oklahoma, and a national leader in the industry. As part of our growth under our new non-profit status, we are working hard to increase employee satisfaction in the areas you mentioned. Our food service contractor recently conducted a survey, which should help improve our cafeteria services. While parking is always an issue in crowded downtown Oklahoma City, OU Medicine offers a dedicated shuttle service for employees who park off-site. Regarding compensation, since the creation of OU Medicine in early 2018, the Total Rewards team at OU Medicine has been developing a Total Rewards philosophy and compensation structure designed to best meet the needs of OU Medicine and its employees. As a part of this process, we will evaluate positions annually, based on local, regional and national survey data, and will make adjustments where necessary. Our primary focus is to ensure that our employees are compensated equitably and appropriate to market. As OU Medicine continues to grow, we are thankful for you and employees like you who are invested in the mission of our organization. We encourage you to spread the word, as we work together to make OU Medicine a fun and meaningful place to work.
