Everything about this place is misleading.

Pros

You might have some fun co-workers if you fit in with the clique and some patients actually do benefit from the clinical services.

Cons

Where do I start... Ageism and race-based hiring run rampant in this company. If you're ever given a tour of just about any clinic, it's incredibly easy to spot the token "insert race here", "we-hired-this-person-because-we-needed-to-appear-more-diverse" individual sticking out like a sore thumb. People of color or over the age 40 are virtually absent from senior management. Promotions are based on who you're friends with, titles are made up to either make people feel more important or justify making people do more work for less money, and favoritism is so blatant that it's painful. Every department has cliques and, well, sorry if you're the poor Oakie who gets left out and ostracized because you just don't seem to "fit". Everything is about numbers, how many new patients are acquired and put on a managed care plan whether they need it or not and nobody (besides maybe a few people on the clinical staff) really seem to care about the quality of care patients are receiving. The "Outreach Associates" are forced to overload the already packed schedules of the clinical staff (which are filled with current patients) by bringing in an always increasing number of new patients every month despite the clinical capacity to handle them. Where and how do they get these patients you might ask? Oh, only through some of the most unethical means possible- excessive phone harassment, unlawful collection of senior information, promises of "lower healthcare costs" and just about anything else they can say or do to get somebody through the door. I could go on but others have already stated the majority of my other gripes.

Pros

Oak Street Health and it's HR team are REALLY good at writing fake glass door reviews. In fact, most of the ones that are positive come from them. Keep up the great work on those fake reviews, guys!

Cons

With Boston Consulting Group or Friends with the CMO? JOBS A PLENTY!!! Seriously BCG peeps. Sign on up. You'll get a management position that lets you do whatever you want, even if you have no qualifications to manage anyone! Which you don't. Because you were a consultant. CEO? Uhm. Yeah. Zero leadership skills and the personality of an Oak Tree (probably how the company got its name.) COO? Don't bother. He's drunk on Kool-aid pretending the place is break even and tries to pressure you into cult like mentality. RVP's? I mean. I guess working from home and doing nothing productive is a rough life. Until their bonuses are affected. Then it's "WHY AREN'T YOU PERFORMING AT A SATISFACTORY LEVEL! THIS IS IMPORTANT TO HEALTH CARE." Honestly., the place is a joke. They're unethical. They put patients on MA plans that they don't need and shouldn't be on. They hire poorly in management which hires poorly below them. Just an absolute clown show from top to middle. You want a quality job at a place that makes a difference? Keep on looking. This place isn't for you.

DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY

Pros

-I work from home -Commission, if you reach and exceed your goal

Cons

I am not one to leave a review but for a company this poorly ran, it's necessary. -They do not give equal opportunities to employees. -There is absolutely no communication - policies and the way the sales departments are ran are always changing. Employees are left in the dark and have to figure things out for themselves . -Management is truly terrible, nonexistent. -Management wants you to make 300+ calls a day and are only focused on meeting metrics (utilization and occupancy), and booking appointments. They micromanage and if you are not reaching your metrics, they will put you on disciplinary action. -The dialing system is BROKEN. The dialer makes calls for you and is consistently calling current patients. ineligible leads, and people who have asked to be placed on the "Do Not Contact" list. -We HARASS leads. What I mean by this is that we are calling leads everyday, multiple times a day. Some people will receive over 10 calls from Oak Street Health daily and are rightfully very upset and will cuss you out. -We are calling aged leads, people who have been contacted every day for the past 1-3 years and have expressed that they are not interested, but we are told to keep calling. -Management is aware of these ongoing issues but does not appear to be resolving them. It's been a disorganized mess for months. -My team lead is no leader. She lacks communication and empathy. She micromanages and is far too focused on meeting metrics. As stated above, if you are not meeting occupancy, utilization, or your goal, she will make that known. My team has lost several people due to the mental exhaustion that comes with this job. Additionally, she does not give everyone on her team equal opportunity nor does she take the time to address any questions. -I started in a training class of roughly 40 people. We are down to 8 at the 9 month mark. The training was far different than the actual job. -The hourly pay is low. There is a chance to earn a nice commission check, if you're able to book appointments, but that's difficult to do with the dialing system calling aged leads and current patients. -You'll have moments where you're able to connect with prospects and get them in the door. In those moments you'll feel a sense of accomplishment, but with how disorganized this department is, you feel like you're wasting your time most days. The list of cons goes on. I hope you weigh your options before you decide to work here.
