Pros

Oberto has a lot of great things going for it. There is finally a strategy in place to develop a solid foundation from which to become the industry leader. The focus is on all of the right things - great taste, quality, product innovation and culture. The company has been faced with a lot of negativity over the past few years, but the light at the end of the tunnel continues to get bigger and brighter. There will always be tough decisions to make. There will always be good days and bad days. I'm proud to work here and know that many other people feel the same way.

Cons

The business environment has been challenging for the past several years. There have been many new entrants into the meat snacks category which keeps competition fierce.

Pros

It is a job and checks clear and some nice workers. Close to home

Cons

Negative place to be. Managers Supervisors take advantage of employees. I work since 2 year and no pay increase. My family start work this year and make more than me at same job. Is hard work, small pay, rude management.

Pros

Family owned, mostly outside and independent board, decent benefits package with PTO, medical/dental/401k. Chance to move up if you are a hard worker, always say yes and have a "sponsor". Good products with room for improvement. Finally a national presence with (recent) creative marketing campaigns.

Cons

Third generation is usually where a family company starts to stumble and this is no different at Oberto. So many changes to the product and who/what the company wants to be in last decade is confusing to employees and consumers alike. Former CEO fundamentally transformed the company-terminated a years long distribution alliance with a Fortune 100 Company, changed (yet again) the product and messaging, took the "Oh Boy" and "Have Fun" off the logo and company culture, culled dozens of long-term highly regarded and productive employees he didn't like, incurred massive debt in what was traditionally a debt free company and then said CEO jumped ship at the first opportunity to lead another company and become an instant millionaire. New CEO has lots of good background and lots of fixing to do. If you have an exempt (from overtime) position, expect them to own you day and night, weekends and holidays. If you are someone who doesn't mind constantly stroking someones ego who is above you and can firmly attach your nose to said someones backside, you may get promoted and last at least as long as they do. Too many politics for such a (relatively) small company. Oberto way too dependent on Costco business and not enough convenience store business. Oberto has played second fiddle to Jack Links for decades and is about one fifth the size now of Jack Links. If you like being the underdog-the Chicago Cubs of Jerky, then this is the company for you.
