Pros

There's guidelines and rules that you have to work within (of course), but other than that your basically your own boss and the work is easy. You print your own route list by punching your ID into a computer, your van reg is on a screen and when you go out to it, the load is already on it, in boxes in numbered locations. You have a bunch of customers that you deliver to (some great houses!!) and times that you need to be there, but you can deliver up to an hour early. If you're late they (ocado) don't mind as long as you've called the customers to let them know. If you finish early, you get paid until the end of your shift, even if you've gone home!... and if you come back late you get paid overtime! Win/Win. The managers all started as drivers, even the depot manager and the regional manager, so they're basically OK & can relate to your issues (as long as you aren't an attention seeking moaner).

Cons

It's hard work, up to 200miles+ on some shifts up to 25 deliveries. That doesn't sound much if you've come from multidrop, but these are full grocery shops and they can be pretty cumbersome. The timings are fair, but sometimes there isn't much room for hanging around, so be prepared to get a sweat on. At the start of your shift, because you're in and out so quickly, at the same time as everyone else, there isn't much time to get to know people and the managers can be pretty rushed, but everyone is pretty nice, so it's not a bad thing really, and this is definitely a job for people who like working solo anyway.
