Pros

I really enjoyed working with my co-workers. The atmosphere was good most of the time when you were fully staffed. The library is an outstanding benefit. There is always something new and different going on.

Cons

Taking a vacation was next to impossible even if you have the time off to do so. I felt that there was very little done when other employees consistently called in sick which made work conditions a little undesirable at times.

Awful experience.

Pros

I honestly cannot think of a pro working here in comparison to other hospitals no matter how hard I try. It was a miserable experience and left me in tears after most shifts.

Cons

Cliques were outrageous, you would be overwhelmed with patients if you weren’t on the “in” group. Management never had your back in anything even if you were right. It was like fighting a battle every shift and literally needing the 4 days off that you had to recover from how terrible the 3 days on were in their ER. The staff to patient ratios were very very high even though in interviews they said the max you would have at one time would be 4-5. The turnover rate was insanely high.

Pros

Big system, lots of work to do because they run lean, and they took great care of employees after natural disasters.

Cons

Good old boys club. The worst kind, too. Lots of married couples and tons of conflicts of interest. They weaponize employee engagement and use it against their employees. If you do not drink the Kool-Aid, leaders see it as something wrong with you, and look for ways to separate you from the company, instead of looking inward at their own contributions to the problems. Doing new and innovative things is fun, but the fun factor quickly evaporates when one realizes the leadership team does not trust ideas from "outsiders". If you are not from New Orleans, you never will be, and your ideas will not be respected. Pay was terrible. 401k/403b was a joke. Get everything in writing or they will not keep their word. Systemic racism is still a problem and they lead people like it's the 1980's.
