Pros

The people were great to work with, but corporate has no idea what it's like on the ground floor. Their rules and regulations often get in the way of a location's productivity, leading to frustration and friction amongst the staff.

Cons

I was classified as 'Part-Time' but 8 out of 10 weeks was working 39 hours. This was great since I needed the money, but I guess not everyone would be okay with that. When I was there the tech was outdated. Whenever a check wouldn't process I had to call up a special line and give a bunch of secret codes. This wouldn't have been so bad, except there's really only one cashier at any given moment if it isn't peak hours.

Pros

The coworkers and customers can make the job great depending on department. I loved working with my regular customers and getting to get to know new ones and their projects. With a good management team this can be a fun place to work. I learned a great deal of valuable skills working in the copy department.

Cons

The compensation is very poor with associates sometimes having raises revoked, being demoted from full time to part time, and unstable hours. Promotions were more often than not given from outside the store or company which I found discouraging. Watching store management being treated so poorly ruined any desire I had to strive for it. There is very little regard to what is practical when policy changes are enforced. Employee feedback no longer seems to matter at all to this company, unfortunately.

Pros

When you have a good team (as every store in our area does) you make a lot of customers happy and make a lot of employees happy. Seeing a happy customer walk out of the door because you were able to assist them is a wonderful feeling, and the commission you can make from doing just that is definitely nothing to sneer at. The concept of the ISCE program, with proper execution, is amazing.

Cons

Working with the new ISCE program can be challenging, as it does seem to be aimed at high-customer volume locations, which our little store is not. However, having a good management team that realizes what does and doesn't work in your store does wonders for this issue.
