Pros
Office Depot used to be an excellent company to work for. A company that I appreciated coming in to work for and worked hard in making the store a clean and friendly place to shop at. Now, due to cuts in hours and everyone having to work three times as hard just to make it through the day, I would say there is no benefit to working at Office Depot. Especially with the cuts in benefits and the rising costs of Office Depots Health Insurance that barely does anything for the employees to begin with. Office Depot has become a joke to work for where we once had employees at all levels staying on for years; now we have a high turn over rate where it is hard to keep an employee longer than 6 months. When I started for Office Depot, the starting pay was well above minimum wage. Now they pay cheapest that they can get you for.
Cons
Terrible upper management where they overly push the selling of PPP's and TDS to the point of threatening peoples jobs and hours on how well they do. If you don't sell, you do not get hours. Some associates will be left off the schedule at times because they did not sell Plans the previous week. Now there are unrealistic goals instead of using actual sales dollars so it is making it even hard for employees to get their commissions. Plus the goals are set off of numbers that were when the economy was better and do not take into account the downward sales trend due to economic conditions. Communications have become a joke as well. A few weeks ago, two sales were being run on TDS, however, upper management didn't know that both sales were going at the same time and when surprised when we asked at the store level if the two sales could be combined. How can you not know what sales you are having if you are in charge of it? Then there are just the many cost cutting measures that are continuing to drag this company down.
