Pros

The company cares about people. The CEO is committed to the company and integrity. The company is customer centric.

Cons

Very fast paced. Extreamly focused and wants to move ahead...at almost all costs (without ethical issues) but very taxing

Pros

The store I worked out really had a positive team atmosphere. We were never very busy compared to other electronics retailers, and most of the other associates had no issues helping out whenever you needed them. The stores are usually very clean, and everything is kept in very good order, so when people walk in, you can be proud of the place you're working for. Also, the base pay is in line with other electronics retail companies, and the incentives for upselling are fair. I always liked that there were multiple "contests" going on every month that gauged performance in all facets of the job (not just sales), all of which carried a monetary reward.

Cons

The GM at the store that I worked for was a bit weak. He had some issues leading confidently, and it would eventually lead to some levels of insubordination. The Assistant Store Manager, who was excellent, ended up getting fed up and left for another store where he is much happier.

Pros

*As long as you don't steal, you will NEVER be fired from Office Depot unless your store shuts down, or your position closes (which at this point can't happen since we're already working with skeleton crews). *High turnover rate lets you meet lots of new people. *FIrst dibs at the clearance items.

Cons

*They will NEVER fire a bad employee unless they do something illegal or horribly stupid. getting fired from Office Depot is next to impossible. *Return policy is a joke that is disregarded the moment the customer calls the national complaint number. *Wages will rarely ever increase sign ificantly without an actual position change. *Sale margin strategy of relying on add-on items too risky and not paying off, making many stores less profitable than they could be, and putting excess pressure on employees to sell additional items with products that would otherwise be sold at little profit, no profit, or even at a loss.
