Pros
Salaries and benefits are satisfactory in respect to the current economic climate. If you can get into the right group you can be treated fairly and with respect. There are still managers at Office Depot who care about performance and giving constructive feedback. You have to be very aggressive and take ownership of your own career path and training. You basically have to take ownership in everything you do to advance and not get stuck in a dead end group. Usually management is supportive with flexible hours and comp time. The dress is casual but no jeans. The atmosphere is relaxed.
Cons
They need to eliminate the non-performers in IT. People are pulling in huge salaries that have not produced in years. They need to re-focus on the current IT platforms that are working and stop attempting to implement a new solution with every re-organization or change in leadership. Most of the departments have too much upper management and are poorly managed. Career advancement is limited and transferring to other divisions or groups is the only way to advance. Management continues to reward the performers and non-performers the same, there is no accountability. Developers are not being utilized and many are discouraged. Climate control - there are huge issues with keeping the AC on.
