Pros

In the beginning of the officemax - office depot merger all was good. Alot of changes in 2 years.

Cons

With retail sales predicted to decline 3% in 2017 and since the Staples take over failed, the company has an increased work load for a very limited staff with no payroll.

Pros

The people that I've worked with are phenomenal. I've seen many many faces come and go, but they always seem to be replaced by someone else with a story to tell. Work is engaging and satisfyingly difficult. There are always opportunities to advance and grow within the company. I never do the same thing two days in a row, it's fast paced and very varied. As a first job, I can't think of much better. You learn communication skills, troubleshooting, computer skills and depending on the department you wind up working in, you might learn how to use all kinds of exotic printers and junk too. Genuinely helpful skills to have.

Cons

You. Need. To. Work. The amount of knowledge and expertise that you need to gain and retain for this entry level job is absolutely huge. You need to become an expert at every single thing there is immediately to enjoy what you're doing. If the challenge satisfies you and you don't mind being compensated very little for your soul, then it'll be a fun ride. If the means don't justify the ends for you, I certainly couldn't blame you.

Pros

You do get to work with a lot of great people and the pay is generally good once you get off the ground floor

Cons

Beauracracy; low chance for advancement, unless you are part of the 'inner circle'; management spends more time on conference calls and looking over reports than on the floor
