Pros

Working for Ogilvy gives young grads the ability to get very good hands on early training. The pay is decent and the work is interesting. You also get lots of discounts and free goodies which can make up for the salary. Lunch is partially paid for.

Cons

Long hours, conservative clients who don't want to take risks. There is very high staff turnover and everyone seems to want to get out.

Pros

Upper management is responsive and competent, they have big name clients, excellent formal training, the large size of the company allows for many opportunities to try new clients, functions, locations, etc.

Cons

Salaries tend to be less competitive than comparable firms, the company tends to be too reactive to economic downturns or industry fads, office space is depressing, not good at giving timely feedback to employees

Pros

The company's imbued with a real sense of warmth and friendliness. Has a great sense of community and is bursting with camaraderie. The openness and wholesale lack of ego mean it often feels more like a family than a firm. The firm is huge, so awash with global opportunities if you know where to look. Its big, blue-chip big clients mean the company has a greater stability than many other ad agencies. Its 360 approach mean that there are also opportunities to change role and client quite often, if you have the aptitude. Generally a gentle, lovely place to work.

Cons

Its upside is also its downside. It friendly, familial attitude is partly the result of its comfortable position as an established brand with a solid roster of clients. This comfortable position means the company can tend towards the complacent. Its mainly conservative, blue-chip clients mean it's also less able to do creative work, as a result of which, ambitious creatives can quickly get frustrated by seeing their edgiest work constantly rejected. The friendliness of the company is partly a result of the lack of competitiveness amongst the employees, which is partly the result of the rather sleepy atmosphere of the place and the glacial pace of change.
