Pros

In some departments schedules are flexible, and management is generally liberal in approving leave. If you want to take on a more active roll in the university there are many opportunities to get involved. Also, there is a variety of training in a multitude of subjects for personal and professional advancement. Tuition assistance is also available to help you further your education.

Cons

Communication across departments is not very cohesive. This can make it difficult to solve student problems that require cohesive effort from multiple parties. Also, since ODU is a state employer, there is a long process to fire people who are not doing their job. Due to this, many people are not pushed to do their work and that leaves more work on the people who actually work.

Pros

The ODU Interfraternity Council gives you experience in developing plans, interpersonal skills, time-management skills, along with many other opportunities to get recognized by your peers.

Cons

The only negative that I encountered during my time with the ODU Interfraternity Council was some lack of participation from peers.

Pros

A new and coming research university with full of growth opportunity in select cutting edge research areas. There are several leading researchers in staff

Cons

As a result of being a younger school, vision is somewhat limited to short term goals. Increasing number of students require a larger campus which is not there yet.
