Pros

Great benefits make ODU a good place to work.

Cons

The salary is not as competitive as it would be in the private sector.

Pros

for adjunct in humanities this is not a bad pay per 3 credit course amount. Before the pandemic the university was paying extra for classes with more than 35 students. So my lecture hall classes of 60+ was paying about $5,000. But then the university cut our class loads to 35. Access to the libraries.

Cons

You never know if you will have classes cancelled last minute. You have to buy your own parking pass. No other benefits like health or retirement plans. No education benefits. No access to university health and fitness facilities without a membership.
