Pros

Fun place to work, easy work, laid-back

Cons

Not fair compensation for employees, supposedly a spiritual center but just as money/profit-oriented as anywhere else. Take advantage of seasonal workers.

Pros

An AMAZING collection of some of the most insightful, talented, OM people you can find in one place! I mean, my workshop (you get 1 free workshop per year of full-time service), my co-workers, the yoga "celebrities" that come week to week- it's all almost too much! A beautiful place with beautiful people and SUCH diversity of practices going on, but everyone is set on deepening their experience regardless of how.

Cons

Whew! Just as the PROS section is extreme, this section is as well. #1 LYME DISEASE!! 1/4 of my department verifiedly contracted the disease here in a totally tick INFESTED atmosphere. I am blessed to have not, but I feel the organization gives 0% warning about this area being the #1 area for Lyme Disease infection IN THE COUNTRY. Among the returning staff (those working here more than one season), I have found something to the tune of 80% have Lyme Disease, which research seems to indicate they will have recurring symptoms for at least a very long time, if not the rest of their lives!! Google Dutchess County Lyme Disease and check out the CDC reports on Dutchess County. Intertwined with this, the customer service experience here is very much a high-end crowd, while the accommodations for staff are tents, storage shed style rooms and a trailer park with no A/C (for returning staff only). While the experience is about nature, etc, I felt that the high demands of the day-to-day job deserved either higher pay or better living quarters.

Pros

Great experience working in high-volume kitchen. Wonderful co-workers Good staff programming (if you have the time and or energy to avail yourself) Pretty campus

Cons

There are many. The housing, if you work full-time and are lucky enough not to have to live in a tent, is rustic, old, generally moldy and unhealthy. Staff are treated as if they are children. Largely incompetent "management." Many staff members stuck in permanent indentured servitude as pay is not enough to be able to live outside another work/study or room/board trade situation. It's sad, really, as there are many gifted, empathic, compassionate people there who should be out serving the world at large instead of being infantilized,
