People that care and are supportive You do a lot to impact the lives of these families. Good money, only because of the constant over time and mileage reimbursement. I made over $35k in 6 months, having a caseload for only 4 of those months. A lot of new experiences that you can't really get anywhere else, work wise and people wise.

Cons

Some people don't care as much. Poor work-life-balance There isn't a clear system of how to address workload, as child welfare is already difficult and unrealistic work expectations for a 40 hour work week. Often working over time to meet weekly goals for home visits, visitations with families, and court documents. Metrics are based on contracts, so there is a lot of expectations to meet metrics which can be overwhelming High turn over rate leading to extra cases than you expect. When you leave, there will be some negative feelings you having to leaving your cases open or messy, or even just not being able to support the children anymore. You really do make a difference and when you leave the children feel that negatively. 6-8k miles on your car in 6 months just from work
