Pros

a paycheck PTO healthcare matching retirement (they made me write 5 words, i tried to stop at paycheck)

Cons

their focus on hospitality and "the patient is always right" is at odds with good quality medical care. since they went public they have become the McDonalds of medical care- monitoring every click and step you take to make it all "streamline" .. human beings are not hamburgers

Pros

The corporate offices look straight out of Pinterest. Friendly and amazing doctors and nurses. Occasional social gatherings with free beverages and food.

Cons

Absolutely terrible management. Embarrassing proprietary platform. Confusing training. High turnover. Low pay. Zero respect for the role from management and other departments, which is by far the backbone of the very company. Cliques and highschool drama. Incestious dating throughout the company. Unqualified and untrained upper management. Limited professional development and favoritism not based on merit. Poor products and promises leading to severe deficits in customer facing role. Requires extreme daily patience dealing with patient frustration that could be easily avoidable.

Pros

Easy visits, easy patient population, clean modern offices Very low burn out No call or weekend requirements

Cons

Way too many. Other reviews have mentioned this already but I will emphasize the lack of evidence based medicine. If you say “No” to a patient request, you WILL be told you were in the wrong. Patient satisfaction is customer satisfaction = customer is always right. Feels like an Adderall pill mill too. Physicians are rare — and probably because they are made to do menial tasks (physicians operate at the absolute bottom of their license here), most report to an NP/PA as their supervisor and are also obligated to listen to very basic premade lectures (geared towards the NP/PAs knowledge level). Physicians are NOT valued at all at this company or recognized for their training/knowledge level. The pay is significantly lower than market rate for physicians. A lot of physicians who are totally burnt out, don’t want to work hard or don’t know their worth end up working here. The company will say they look at similar sized companies to make sure compensation is competitive but that means they don’t look at hospitals or large medical groups so what they think is competitive is actually remarkably low.

Thanks for taking the time to write this review. First and most importantly, we absolutely value our physicians and I'm sorry to hear that has not been your experience. One Medical wouldn't exist without our incredible physician community, and much of what we do here is designed to create a more sustainable practice and bring back the joy in our careers, because that's how we improve the experience for our patients. Second, I want to assure you that delivering the highest-quality care and using evidence-based guidelines whenever possible is a priority. Yes, we are also attentive to our patients' needs, and seek to provide an unparalleled patient experience. That said, One Medical clinicians are always free to exercise our individual clinical judgment, and rather than a "patient is always right" approach, we simply believe that a patient always deserves to be heard and to have their concerns addressed. Feel free to reach out to me directly if you are comfortable discussing your feedback - I'm here to help. Andrew Diamond, MD, PhD Chief Medical Officer
