That’s so great to read, thanks for posting your views. We’re really excited about our future. Just completed a public offering and began trading on the NYSE and impactful initiatives on the way: new ERP, Diversity and Inclusion initiative and Leadership Development. Great time to be at Montrose for sure!

Pros

Culture depends on the office, mine is strong right now, but the technician turnover rate is so high that it can change in a matter of weeks. Good experience out of college, but no formal training whatsoever, and little to no management (boss may not even be in your office). Project managers have experienced the high turnover and seem to continually lose interest in trying to teach technicians valuable information because of it (not a lot of free time for them to do it anyways). You can potentially travel to interesting places, but most industry is not located in places you want to be so it happens once in a blue moon. In an effort to make up for these things, they do offer 4 weeks of PTO, which is more than most other companies I have looked at.

Cons

As many have said, long hours and low pay tend to be the main issue. There are no cost of living increases and the yearly “raises” you receive are practically insulting (why do you think turnover rate is so high? I really don’t think they care about it.) Performance reviews are done by your boss, of which never sees you actually working, the reviews should take into consideration what the project managers think (considering you spend 60-80 hours a week with them). Training is next to none, I’ve learned practically everything through trial and error, which isn’t fun in the field.

We are so glad to read about the strong, positive culture in your office. Culture is very important to us and is an area in which we strive to be a preferred employer across the US. We do pride ourselves in developing our employees and providing promotional opportunities, for those having the interest and capability. We do work in some industries where, do to customer requirements, sometimes work days and workweeks can be long. We spend a fair amount of time ensuring candidates we are considering for hire, and then those hired, as part of our robust on-boarding process, understand our job requirements mean long hours sometimes. We do pay competitively and as you mention offer rich benefits and paid time off. We sincerely wish you well in your career endeavors. Kevin Gill SVP HR

Pros

This is the best job I've ever had. Wonderful people here and this company is deep with the smartest in the industry. Best Executive Management Team I have ever worked under or with. They can actually communicate a vision for where they want to take the company. Not just a number here. Compared with other companies I have worked for in this industry, Montrose is at the top of the list. The CEO is the real deal.

Cons

This industry can be up and down and a bit unpredictable.

Wow! So let me be sure I read your comments correctly. You said working at Montrose Environmental, a company which just went public on July 23, is "the best job you've ever had". Montrose has the "best Exec Team" for which you've ever worked. We "communicate our vision well" and our CEO Vijay is "the real deal". I don't know what to say by thank you for recognizing this and sharing. Kevin Gill SVP HR
