Pros

Understanding and amiable coworkers that fight for you when they can. Decent pay and benefits for an entry-level job that requires almost no prior knowledge or specific degree.

Cons

Extremely long and unpredictable hours. Travel percentage is generally well above the advertised rate. You are completely at the will of your project managers, who themselves are generally at the will of the plant managers who have zero respect for your time (Longest day I worked: 17 hours in cold, rainy conditions). Conditions are dangerous. Equipment often breaks down due to repeated use without maintenance (there is no position within most Montrose offices that focuses on diagnosing and maintaining equipment). Pulling up ~300 lbs of equipment anywhere between 60 and 300 ft is physically demanding and dangerous.

We do hire the best and brightest and are teams work extremely well together. Honestly, it is why we are so successful. Glad to hear that you find our compensation and benefits package competitive. This is a consistent theme from our employees. Lots of travel is definitely a big part of our field tech roles and we do include that in the job posting and re-iterate during the interview process. I respect your point of view and will gladly consider and share with the team going forward. Kevin, SVP HR

Our teams are rock stars. We do have work in industries that due to customer requirements, require long hours and lots of travel at times. We ensure to spend a fair amount of time in the interview process educating candidates about the hours and travel requirements. Kevin Gill SVP, HR
