Hello, Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback and for your work at OpenClassrooms. I am really glad that you find your working environment stimulating and fulfilling, generally speaking. As the team has grown significantly in the last year, we have worked on formalizing our internal mobility process and designed an ambitious training policy allowing each employee to undertake one training action every year. Besides, professional interviews (“entretiens professionnels”) are being conducted for all employees who have been working at OpenClassrooms for over two years to assess their training needs and career development expectations. In 2020, more than 20% of positions were filled internally, demonstrating our wish to support the growth of our team members. However, I would agree with you that there is still work to do in terms of L&D strategy, and the design of career paths, which is the reason why we have opened several positions in the HR team to create a People Operations team fully dedicated to supporting our employees and making sure they thrive in their working environment. I would encourage you to talk about career development and training opportunities to HR and to your manager. We can help you with that. Although the hierarchical organization of the team is pyramidal, the watchwords of our management team are collaboration and feedback. Individual goals are discussed between manager and employee and set according to the team’s and company’s goals. Projects are managed following a RACI matrix that defines the responsibilities of all people involved, allowing them to be autonomous within their own scope of responsibility. However, it is true that in some teams, especially large ones, hierarchy is important to uniformize processes and the quality of service provided. We are open to your feedback, and discussions are always welcome to keep improving. Regarding your comment on politics, I strongly insist that this is not in accordance with our values of open communication and transparency; I can assure you that such behaviors are not encouraged by the management. We value hard work and dedication to the mission rather than cunningness and political calculations, which is the reason why we insist on the importance of 360° feedback and SMART goals in our performance reviews that are not compatible with such behaviours. If you feel you have been subjected to unfair treatment, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your manager or HR to discuss the issue. We are sincerely grateful for the great commitment of our team members towards our mission and ensuring the well-being, fulfillment and empowerment of our employees is the best way of giving back to them. Thank you very much for your work at OpenClassrooms. I hope you will keep learning and growing with us for a long time. Sincerely, Pierre Dubuc Co-founder & CEO pierre.dubuc@openclassrooms.com
