Pros

People at OpenGov are scrappy, curious, and kind. What struck me the most was that everyone at OpenGov is real - their personalities and answers to questions were the same when I was a candidate as when I started as an employee. This is a company that values transparency. It also feels like the whole company continues to gain momentum.

Cons

Selling and delivering a new technology solution to the government sector is an uphill battle. It takes people who are really committed to the mission, because it takes a lot of effort to be successful. There are plenty of easier jobs, just not all quite as rewarding. It seems like OpenGov is at an inflection point, meaning that the culture, leadership, even the product are changing and some of the people who enjoyed the last phase will not be excited about the next phase. It seems like that has mostly died down and people who didn't shift with OpenGov have moved on, because most of the new hires are raising the bar and very excited. I think people who are willing to speak up, remember to include others, and help OpenGov define some new strategies and processes for the next phase will be the people who enjoy it the most and make the biggest impact.

Pros

- The technology is great and solves problems sorely needed in the public sector - Overall, smart, dedicated employees - Headquarters building and free lunches are cool

Cons

-Leadership leaves a lot to be desired, particularly sales leadership. -A non-trusting work environment. Micro-manages you to death. -Politics, not performance, plays a big part in deciding who is viewed favorably. -High turnover. Can't hire and keep AEs due to the poor sales management.
