Pros

Office environment was ok before covid. They had lots of snacks and a nice office.

Cons

One of the worst places I’ve worked!!! During my 2 years working at the Opentable LONDON FINANCE DEPARTMENT they had problems retaining staff. At one point there was a staff member leaving every month for over a year. The team was about 10 people. This was due to incompetence of management. They have had no training on how to deal with staff problems. The managers would play favourite with employees which causes resentment and frustration between staff. Management would also discuss personal matters of other employees which isn’t professional. I was always told “not to say anything” when told something about another employee. During the pandemic I had a family member pass away and needed to go back to my home country. The day I found out of my family members passing we were told in a meeting “you should be grateful to have a job during the pandemic and if you don’t like it then you should leave.” I reported staff bullying to HR and these comments but they seemed unbothered to fix the problem. I was asked to return in the height of the April 2021 lockdown even though HR had approved until June 2021 for me to stay. I feel this breached a duty of care they had towards me as an employee. Many staff have left due to bad management which is a recurring problem. Managers blame staff they are managing and there is no accountability of whether what is being reported to higher management is correct. Due to the team being reduced during covid and staff retention rates low, the workload was piled onto loyal employees who stayed, which caused a lot of stress. This then impacted their performance reviews at the end of the year as higher management saw it as underperforming. Managers were trying to persuade others feedback for them to be favourable so they received high bonuses. My attempts to ask for new staff members were always brushed off and was told to work harder. Career opportunities are non existent until someone leaves. Management change the direction of work constantly which makes it difficult and confusing to know which way to proceed and plan your day. I believe the higher management did not understand the EMEA market as they were based in the USA. The workload can be reduced by implementing changes but this was always blocked by management as they did not like trying new ideas. Would not recommend this place to work even if you are desperate for a job!!!

Pros

Work life balance is a nice to have.

Cons

Constantly changing teams across the board and forcefully make you move to positions you don't want to be in. Salary decreases after tenured years of working there. Pretend like they care about employees and really don't. Managers are worried about their upward mobility. There are so many more companies out there with work life balance and remote options. OpenTable thinks that is enough, but unfortunately it is not. Look elsewhere.

Pros

I used to think I worked for one of the most supportive and innovative companies when it came to looking after their employees, thats until I joined Opentable. From the moment I joined my on-boarding and everything from contacts to equipment was arranged. I was even set up with a buddy to help if I got stuck. I was fully enabled from the moment I joined but then the highlight is, I was given space and time to settle in with time to learn systems etc before my workload became too busy. This breathing space was great. Instead of being thrown in the deep end which is all I have ever experienced when starting new roles. Finally everyone I have been in touch with from my colleagues, managers to stakeholders has been nothing but friendly and helpful.

Cons

Honestly. There are no cons to this job so far.

Pros

With all the changes that have been going on over the last year, OpenTable has done an amazing job of treating their employees fairly and with respect. I have had several managers over the course of my years at OpenTable and would work for any one of them again! The holidays and PTO offered are truly the most generous out there. Working here makes your work/life balance so easy to manage. OpenTable has an extensive training team (10+ members on the team) which is something many other companies do not!

Cons

Working remotely can be hard sometimes but OpenTable has an amazing office in south Denver- I sometimes wish more people would go in a couple times per week.

Pros

As someone who can often treat myself badly in service of working more, I have found unexpected allies everywhere at OpenTable. Multiple co-workers (and definitely my manager) has encouraged me/us to take sick days when in doubt, including mental health days when the news hits hard. This makes me feel valued beyond what I can contribute to the bottom line, which is unfortunately mostly a new experience for me after 7 years in this industry. I have enjoyed working with almost everyone I have come across. People are kind, eager to help, fun, energetic, caring.

Cons

There is definitely a cost to being a relatively old company — lots of structures, silos, approval processes that have me thinking "there has to be a better way" on a weekly basis. At the same time, I have seen signs of awareness of the silos problem, and some willingness to address it. I am still new here, so the jury is still out, but I have hope.

Pros

Great for building basic office skills. You also get the chance to create a launching pad for your career. But you do need to be focused on what your own Professional goals are! Have them written down, and know where you want to go. Managers will help you achieve them while also making sure you are pushed to succeed in their goals for the CSR role. Admittedly, while you are able to grow, it is highly unlikely that they will acknowledge your achievements in your Quarterly Review or if you ask for a raise or promotion. If you are looking to work here: It really is great if you can figure out what you want and need from it. A lot of management is micro and controlling and overly aware of your actions even when you feel you are succeeding (especially when succeeding). This is where the opportunity is for you to let them help you grow. When this “opportunity” arises, be sure to know what ways you’d like to succeed. They will provide you with tools to do so and some fantastic insights into the corporate world. To be wise: Do what feels right to you and learn from what they can show you. But don’t spend too much time trying to achieve goals that feel disingenuous to any part of your true self.

Cons

Tldr; This role devalues independence, can be dehumanizing and consistently lacks positive reinforcement. Not valued as an employee. This is widespread in every facet. The pay is low, the acknowledgements are lacking, the pressure is immense. Expectations are to handle roughly 45 - 85 cases a day, if not more (and they push for more, always more). The tools they use to judge your work - like the Pillars of Excellence (aka QAs) and the average handle times - often make for asinine interactions and lose out on authenticity. When real authenticity is applied and the customer is retained by the interaction, the QA will still judge it as subpar or not judge it at all because of the length of the interaction (they judge the shortest calls for the most check boxes). This method dwindles the confidence of its employees while also make their working lives more difficult. When I voiced that some of their expectations are dehumanizing, it was met with the idea that I lacked accountability. This is not true. They laid out expectations (increasingly dehumanizing ones) and I applied every request. The issue was that I would use the restroom outside of the alotted 15 minute breaks (which are very strict, are specifically placed and cannot be broken up even for using the restroom). I strove to meet their requests and my own human needs in a number of ways and approaches. 3 ways, to be specific. Each way was not correct because the true expectation was for me to put my basic human needs aside and put forward the corporate ideal. Additionally, it was expected that I relay every time that I went to the restroom exactly what I was doing. When I voiced that this was dehumanizing, I was told I lacked accountability. (At this time I also held some of the highest KPIs on the floor and was a part of the top performing team)

Pros

I work with creative, dynamic, and caring folks who love data, collaboration, and truly enjoy one another's company. Working remotely is easy with this team. I know my manager cares about me as an individual.

Cons

Although I feel cared for as an individual, I do not find my professional growth to be a priority to the company or team.

Pros

- nice snacks but that doesn’t make up for the cons

Cons

- Incredibly low salary considering the amount of work done in the role. - No support when you had a complexed issue and those with the task to help treaded you like an idiot - When asking for additional training, always told to find time and do it myself when they never gave us time - Lunch was half an hour and one 15 min break which if you went slightly over they gave you hell for even if you were unwell. - Managers had their favourites and made that very obvious - No opportunity for growth at all, only if you were a favourite - Harshly critiqued on calls if it took longer than 6 minutes without any context on how to improve or consideration of the fact it was more than one issue. - Higher management give CSRs a hard time and expect a lot with NO reward for their efforts - People let go with no warning or reason. - Good people leaving because of how incompetent management were and never took on idea for change - Mangers Would tell others business that was given in privacy which I reported to HR and nothing was done.

Pros

Open staff culture and good parties

Cons

Very focused on promoting friends and not much room for growth. Rewarding personally and you can make friend here. A lot of unnecessary procedure and not putting tech first despite selling a tech product. Not a company that rewards loyalty whatsoever. A lot of focus on alcohol.

Pros

- You have a set schedule but keep in mind it changes every 6 months. - Managers can be really nice, not sure if you can really trust them though. - There is room to move into other positions although not sure how much of a pay increase you would get in the positions that is right above support. - Overall, not a bad company to work for if you do not mind the low pay of course. - No one expects you to work more than you are scheduled. They take work/life balance pretty serious. - Sometimes you get the opportunity to get same day PTO if you win. - Majority of the times, it is not that busy so if there are enough agents on the floor then you will get breaks between phone calls but if there are not enough agents then you may get calls back to back.

Cons

- If you are not bilingual, you will get paid $17 an hour and $19 if you are bilingual. - Daily schedules could be really unfair sometimes. Schedules are supposed to be split up between phones, chats and emails but you may get the whole day or majority of your day on phones while other people have a lot of chat and email time. I would really love to know how they determine the daily schedule changes. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was favoritism and they pick and choose who does what. - Training could be a bit better, it was short and felt like it was too quick. With all of the info you have to learn working on the restaurant side, you will not be really comfortable with the product until months later.
