Pros

Chances are if you're reading this then your company was probably acquired by OpenText. If you survive the acquisition 101 play book of blow out the sales team, freeze new hires, and trim the departments down then you should be fairly safe. They like to buy companies like toys on the shelf. It's new and shiny and they'll play with it for a little bit then forget about it.

Cons

The CEO and benefits. The CEO will constantly send out company wide emails talking down his nose at everyone. He feels a constant need to weigh in on social issues and news headlines that absolutely no one asked for. Like we would be so lost without his thoughts and guidance. It is very polarizing and unnecessary. There will also be emails about awesome quarterly results with a word salad of corporate buzzwords about how great the profits were and how driven the company is but never any word about how it's due to the success of the employees or how it can be shared with them. Also once your company has been bought, rebranded, and forgotten about good luck getting new hires in quickly or getting good investment in the department. It's almost guaranteed the benefits will be worse then what you had before. 1% 401k match and very expensive insurance premiums with sky high deductibles.

Pros

Good opportunity to interact with some talented people with wide variety of experience and backgrounds. Opportunity to learn multiple technologies even if they are not in your sales portfolio. Work life balance, dependent on your manager..

Cons

Where do I start… The CEO enjoys spoon feeding liberal beliefs upon the employee base relentlessly. I accept all people and respect all beliefs, even if I don’t agree with them. MarkB should focus more on the business and cleaning up business processes than changing social norms..(unless he wants to be a politician, then he should pursue that career path). Generally company is run on micromanaged basis , with little input expected or acknowledged by management. Products are generally good but not updated. OpenText likes to say they are a cloud based company but that is not really the case. It can be said that OpenText is where acquired company product go to gradually die. Atmosphere can be toxic at times, equal opportunity is discussed but you need to walk the walk, not just talk the talk. Good place to start a career, learn some skills but no long term career growth opportunities here. There are better companies for growth…
