Pros

You basically get Canadian holidays off if you're American

Cons

If you want to work at a terribly run, penny-pinching, Canadian-biased, and declining company with an egotistic CEO, Opentext fits the bill! Terribly run - This company is so poorly managed, it's comical. The CEO is a control freak and he's a tightwad. So you'll face tight budgets and you're still expected to hit crazy targets and grow. Hint: it's impossible to grow without spending... there's no organic growth at this company -- that's why OpenText keeps acquiring. But they always tend to be junk assets. Egotistic CEO - Mark is running the company into the ground. MJB is so focused on keeping the margins high at the cost of literally everything else. You WILL NOT get a pay raise or a promotion ever. Ironically, at a kickoff, Mark bragged about increasing customers' costs by 7% because of inflation but of course will not do anything about employees' pay. Declining Business - There's M&A activity but that's because the company is perpetually declining. Nobody uses their products willingly and the sales guy are always missing their targets. Moreover, because of Mark, the only targets that are considered at the company are the cheapest, most garbage assets. This company takes pride in "disciplined M&A" but garbage in will always lead to garbage out. Heed my words, this company will only fall more in the future. Cheap - This can't be said enough, cheap cheap cheap company. You WILL NOT get a pay raise or promotion. Why? Because the company wants to keep their costs low. If you want more pay each year, look elsewhere because the only one lining his pockets is Mark. At every all-hands, Mark talks about employees' well-being but never once gives his employees a raise. Also such a focus on margins that the company makes cuts every year. What a great morale booster! Canadian - If you're not Canadian, I highly suggest staying out of this company. They are clearly Canadian-biased and cut people simply because of their geography. Yes, that means Americans. I wish someone had told me these things before I joined OpenText. If i knew these things, I would not have joined. Hopefully, this helps you make a better decision.
